Sunday, November 30 2008, the region of ElvenGlen was reborn on OpenLife Grid. In addition, the majestic ElvenGlen Castle was rebuilt and placed in a setting similar to its original location.
Some newer members may be confused, wondering why it is Elf Clan is setting up "ElvenGlen" since that name is used by another group on Second Life. To put a pre-emptive stop to propaganda, rumors and outright lies, here are the answers.
ElvenGlen was Elf… Continue

According to a report at Massively
, Second Life sim count is dropping dramatically. A total of 795 sims have shut down thus far with "no bottom yet in sight".
This is not surprising in light of the increase of Open Space Sim prices by some 26% by January 1 and 67% by July 1 of 2009.
Massively made two primary points regarding this trend:
Regarding consoliation of four Open Space… Continue

Instead of Second Life being a world-wide grid that could have surpassed any single venture in the history of computing (other than perhaps Microsoft or the Internet itself), Second Life is a (relatively) limping venture with disgruntled and angry customers. LL is literally looking toward a future of having its entire market eaten by savvy competitors. Instead of Linden Lab accomplishing "the dream"... that dream is going to go either to a successor (such as Open Life, among dozens of others)… Continue

Reuters Leaves Second Life
Recently, one of the best-known Second Life commentators, Eric Reuters (of the Reuters Report), left Second Life to work with the Silicon Valley Insider.
Reuters Report Here
Reuters isn't the only one to leave Second Life. Numerous groups-- including our own Elf Clan-- are currently… Continue

DA DWAGON AND DA ORC
by Snoots Dwagon
Is true story...
The orc smashed through the brush in typical orcish manner, unheeding of the damage caused to fauna or small burrow. His huge battle axe, Crunch and his sword Slasha in hand, he knew himself to be da biggest, baddest creature in da land. He was ORC! Let all fear him.
A few hundred yards further, unfortunately in his path, lay a nest…

The Open Grid is here and developing quickly. Each week brings improvements and new features.
One of those features is the concept of M-15. This basically means "Mature age 15" which means, in their own words "No sex and nudity in the streets".
This very much reflects the policy Elf Clan has had from the very beginning of our first sim: "What you do in your home is your business. What you do in the streets is ours."
We realize we cannot stop people from walking… Continue

has a lot of great info -- a sort of gathering place for the OL community!
Just spoke with a gal that has a mainland sim of her own with a forest full of her sculpted trees at about 65 prims each!!!!
She also mentioned something about new "mesh avatars" that will be coming soon. Hmmm, I'm a bit confused-- thought that the avatars now used in SL and OL were mesh avatars....

Linden Lab's days are numbered.
I'm not alone in this opinion. Blogs across the nation are voicing similar thoughts. Peter Lioncourt is pretty much fed up too. If you folks know Peter as I do, you know it takes a lot to cross the line with him. But once that line is crossed, that's it. Linden Lab has finally crossed that line. As a result, Peter has already purchased two regions from the Open Grid system (yes, TWO sims... the other is being delivered as I write). I can tell… Continue

I've just dropped off some freebies in our OpenLife ElvenMyst that I found while exploring OL recently! Clothes, skins, eyes, hair, etc. for both men and women. Elf, Human, Hobbit, and Zombie among others. And a bunch of other goodies to boot! Please feel free to "TAKE A COPY!" and leave the packages for others to take from!
Also check out the Library folder in your inventory -- some very nice skins (textures), etc.

This documentary was on Dutch television this week. The documentory was made IN sl.
It's a sl diary. Central question the director asks himself: Is the virtual world reilly different from the real world? Can you create a life and fill it in as you want to?
Got to warn you it is a long documentary but… Continue

This little story is about Judy. Judy is one of my best and earliest friends in secondlife.
Judy and I met in sl a long time ago. We were neighbours in a mall owned by a very nice chap who decided this mall was for starting designers and we didn’t have to pay rent (or maybe 1L per week, can’t remember ).
We started talking and because there wasn’t that much traffic we talked for hours and hours. Judy was the one that first showed me how to make a (very simple) bracelet, at that time I… Continue

A friend of mine said something realistic today:
"They just want to rake in the dough and retire young and they dont care who they step on to do it."
This called to mind a suspicion I have had for a long time: the possibility that some people at Linden Lab may be trying to perform the "golden parachute" stunt, taking Second Life for all they can get out of it NOW, retire young-- and they don't care about the ultimate impact of their actions on Second Life and its users.… Continue

This post appeared on the Linden Lab Open Space Forum (which now contains THOUSANDS of posts, the vast majority of them quite negative-- and amazingly quite accurate). It's the first time ever that I have seen the majority of SL users peg LL to the wall... in an insightful and eyes-wide-open manner.
This post was especially straight forward and to the point. I replied to it. Here's the post word for word:
Well a rough guess of open sims alone… Continue

This statement will begin with Elf Clan's official policy and position on the matter of Linden Lab price gouging of Open Space sims. It will then proceed as to why
we are making these decisions and taking these actions.
Be aware that this blog is hard-hitting and to the point, with no attempt at "PC". I'm telling it like I see it... and most likely as it truly is. I daresay we are by no means alone in these decisions. Word is already pouring in from other groups: the line is… Continue

Peter Lioncourt has certainly made one of the most unselfish and generous decisions I have ever witnessed. I was not online when he made his inworld visit to Elvynmyst. His calm and decisive comments to those that attended were evident in the notes posted. I have not met Peter Lioncourt but I do know there are not many who would measure up to the stature of this man. He has given to me, you and ....all 1500+ members of elf clan that little pocket of good in a vr filling up with the obscene. It… Continue

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
-- Thomas Jefferson.
Addendum 4-14-2009: As a "looking back" preview of this blog post, written several months after the original post: as of mid-February 2009, more than 5,500 open space sims shut down operation. There were so many people that shut down Open Space sims and so many that left Second Life... that Linden Lab shut down demographic reports that revealed how many sims were… Continue
