My Idea on Maturity Zones

I have a simple theory on how maturity zones should be handled in SL, or perhaps other grids that would allow "red-light districts". The zones would be divided up into "PG", "Mature", and "Adult". PG is the same as it is normally, with the addition of "If it's pushing the boundaries between PG and Mature, it's Mature". Mature rating would correspond to the M15 rating used in OpenLife, where sexual content is not allowed to be visible in public.

The new rating "Adult" or "XXX" would… Continue

(Members: please excuse the heaping helping of sarcasm that is to follow. In this case, absolutely no respect or reasonable "debate" is warranted. In some issues, sarcasm is the only valid response-- especially since Dan Linden himself is sarcastic in his original post.)

Linden Lab Removes Sim Metrics

Sim metrics show how many sims were online on a weekly/monthly basis. Sometime around early January... it is widely reported that Linden Lab took such metrics offline. Why would the company remove such metrics?

Their excuse was that due to people switching from Open Space to full sims, the metrics incorrectly represented actuall grid statistics.

LOL. Are we really suppposed to believe that? If people were "converting" sims on a massive… Continue

Addendum 3-24-2009. By recent decision of the Eldars of Elf Clan, based on evidence and advice by Elf Clan members who were asked to provide feedback, Elf Clan has abandoned OpenLife Grid due to allegedly unprofessional, unethical and illegal conduct of the host company 3DX. All intents to "migrate" or otherwise support OpenLife Grid have been cancelled. This blog is left standing for the purpose of historical interest only.

Greetings members. Have you ever… Continue

"Meta Issue"??? More Coroporate Smoke Screen Jargon

The new catch phrase "meta issue" has recently (as of this week) been applied to the texture loading problems-- an issue that is likely one of the most damaging ongoing problems to face the Second Life platform.

While fancy labels sound all nice and catchy and complicated... it's also something we pretty much already knew-- months ago. Such a concept is nothing new.

The following things have already been discovered BY CUSTOMERS and have been realized for months (even… Continue

Headlong Into Destruction

Many of us have been watching the economy lately.

The extreme increase in the price of gasoline during the last few years drove up the prices of everything-- food, clothing, medicine, insurance. It cost more to ship items-- and naturally that increase in cost was passed on to the consumer.

But now that gasoline prices have gone back down, do we see prices falling? No. Two things influence this:

1) Merchants willingly raise prices faster than they lower… Continue

SLTexture Loading Issues and Tech Response-- The Predictions Come True

Wayfinder Wishbringer, posted in JIRA VWR-8503 Sept 16, 2008

"I'm going to go out on a limb here and try to figure something out based on nothing but the visible evidence.

1. Linden Lab claims to know what is causing the texture delay problem (namely, UDP instead of HTML)

2. Changing from UDP to HTML should be a walk in the park for any competent coder. They could have the fix in three days if they wanted to.

3. Despite this fact, Linden Lab isn't fixing the…

Abuse of JIRA and Customers

Another in the line of exposing hidden activities coming out of Linden Lab...

re: Alexa Linden -- alleged customer harassment

Reference: Today between 1:36 and 1:47pm, Alexa Linden "resolved" EIGHT pJira reports, all belonging to me or one of my alts. The subjects and her "resolution" of such reports are as follows:

1. Delivery Status Notification (Failure) when emailing a response to a SL IM.

Alexa response: "Resolved-Need more Info".

I'm still here... and Role Playing!

I havn't posted in a while or even been out and about in the sandbox as normal. Truth is, I'm from Texas....it's cold outside...I'm not even thinking of putting on a swimsuit or going to the gym. And in all my years in SL I have never really tried Role Playing. Sure I've been a half-orc/half-elf persona for a while, even having my own little story in my mind but I've never really put it to use in an environment with others...til now.

A couple of months ago I filled out a character… Continue

The Joker asked, "Why so serious?" In this article we examine Linden Lab metrics... or more exactly... the lack thereof, and ask: "Why so secretive?" Seems like Linden Lab has its own jokers.

"Metrics" are the statistics that track the growth / status / health of a company. They're the figures that help the board of directors and president to make the decisions necessary to make the company stable and profitable.

Linden Lab claims to be a… Continue

This is a lengthy and detailed post, but easy to read and informative. Why this post now? Several reasons:

1. To pro-actively make the community aware of regular Linden Lab policy abuses dating back to 2005 and before. I feel this warranted at this time in… Continue

Drama Queens: the Coconut Ice Incident

(friendly note: if the very concept of discussing drama offends, the reader is encouraged to stop reading now. This post is fairly straight and to-the-point. ; )

I am responding publicly here because the owner of this company unwisely felt it proper to take her drama public. As explained later in this article, we have set policies in dealing with such activities. Responding publicly to public abusive rants is one of them.

DRAMA QUEENS ABOUND: the case of COCONUT… Continue
